Saving Money While Camping

Earlier this month (September 2023), I published a Vanother Collective vlog, titled How to Save Money While Camping.  In it, I remarked how I don't really hold on to the purse strings too tightly while we are away, as we enjoy visiting local attractions and eating out at local restaurants and pubs.  'How can this be true, from a Yorkshire man'? I hear you cry.  Well, it's very true, but that doesn't mean I don't like a bargain.

If you've watched the vlog, you'll recall that I suggest a few 'members' discount schemes.  Well, we've found another... Kids Pass, a digital membership group that offers discounts at cinemas, attractions, and restaurants across the UK, along with the UK and European holidays.

You can try the scheme for a month for just £1, then it's £3.99 per month after that.  You can cancel your subscription whenever you like.  It came in handy for our trip to Stockeld Park.

Also this year, we managed to take advantage of discounted tickets for Scarborough Sea Life Centre, by buying a pack of Freddo chocolate bars (yes, they have suffered with the rise in inflation).  Cadbury offer their customers discounted tickets for the likes of the Sea Life Centres, Legoland, Alton Towers and many more attractions, by including a special code on qualifying packs of their products.  The codes can be input to their website to redeem discounted electronic tickets for your chosen attraction.

Our favourite way of saving money while we are away, without even trying, is having beach days.

I don't know many people who dislike a trip to the beach, so this should be an easy money saver for most families.  Now, you may be thinking that a trip to the seaside means having to buy buckets and spades, ice creams and fish and chips, which can all cost a premium these days, but, no!  Though we already have buckets and spades, ready to go in the camper at a moments notice, fossil hunting is one of our activities of choice.  And if the fossils are few and far between, collecting sea glass, shells and pebbles is the next best thing, especially if they can be used in some form of crafting in the following days.  As for the food dilemma, why not pack a picnic?  You can make a picnic as cheap or as expensive as you like, but also this will give the opportunity to make a healthy meal, knowing exactly what ingredients are going in.  After all the excitement of what will, hopefully, be a sunny day at the seaside, why not go for a paddle?

Don't forget to check out our money saving vlog and keep an eye on our Twitter and Instagram accounts to see what we've been up to.

Thanks for reading 🤙
