Campervan Road Trip Playlist (Part 2)
Unlike Volkswagen Camper Adventures playlist, my playlist doesn't include songs that provoke precious memories. The reason for this is that I want to hold tightly onto the response that these tunes give me. I feel that if I play them too often, that (as a friend once said) 'they might wear out'! One such tune is Arthur's Song by Christopher Cross. This reminds me of being in a friend's car many years ago. This friend always drove old bangers that often broke down and we always ended up having 'adventures'! A 'quick' spontaneous evening trip to Wales (from our homes in London) was never out of the question with him! The memory that this song brings is so vivid that I can smell the car, see the darkness of the night, remember the escapism of unplanned trips with 'my minder' (as my parents always referred to him). We're still friends all these years later and whenever we meet up, we always laugh about all the adventures that we had when we were young!
There are 2 exceptions to long ago memories on my playlist. The first is Zoom by Fat Larry's Band. I still remember the first time that I heard it! My dear old dad had sent me around the corner to the petrol station to buy some chocolate for a lazy Sunday afternoon and it was playing as I chose a bar of chocolate to take back home for everyone. I don't know if it was the playful lyrics or the tune that grabbed my attention. But I loved it from that first moment!
The second song is The Final Countdown by Europe. This reminds me of being away on a youth club weekend when I was a teenager and my friend (who was a big fan), running down the stairs to the disco as this song started. I still sometimes message her all these years later when I hear this song on the radio!
That said, there are some other tunes on this playlist that do hold memories for me. But those memories aren't from long ago. They are more recent, little reminder memories. Some of these songs are old favourites and some are newer. But, for whatever reason I have put these songs on our Road Trip Playlist, they are all great songs that we enjoy listening to on a road trip. I hope you enjoy this blog and prehaps listening to some of these tunes. It is rather an eclectic mix, but these are more of my playlist favourites!
